Privacy Policy
In plain language
- Sketchy stores your email, a public username, and the drawings you publish — nothing else.
- We don't run ads and we don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
- Your drawing feed is public to other Sketchy users; your email never is.
- Daily reminders happen entirely on your device — we never see when you open the app.
- You can delete your account and everything tied to it, permanently, from inside the app at any time.
1Who we are
Sketchy is developed by Chourouk Ben Messaoud, an independent developer based in France. For anything related to this policy — questions, requests, complaints — reach out at chouillustration@gmail.com. Under GDPR, Chourouk Ben Messaoud is the data controller for the personal data described below.
2What we collect
Sketchy asks for an account because your streak, prompts, and gallery are personal — there's no browsing the app anonymously. Here's exactly what that account holds:
| Data | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You, at sign-up (or from Google/Apple if you use those) | Login, password reset, account recovery |
| Username | You choose it at sign-up | Shown publicly next to drawings you publish |
| Password | You, at sign-up | Stored hashed by our backend provider — we never see it in plain text. Not applicable if you sign in with Google or Apple. |
| Drawings | Created in the app's canvas | Saved to your personal gallery; published drawings appear in the shared Explore feed |
| Likes, reports, blocks | Your taps in the app | Powers the like count, and lets moderation work — see §3 |
| Streak & stats | Calculated from your drawing dates | Shown on your own profile; not derived from anything else |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photo library, camera roll, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity outside the app. Sketchy has no analytics or tracking SDKs — we don't know how long you spend in the app or what you tap on beyond what's needed to run the features above.
3How we use it
- Running the app. Your account, drawings, and streak exist so the daily-prompt mechanic and gallery work at all.
- The Explore feed. Drawings you publish are shown to other Sketchy users alongside your username — this is the social, public part of the app, and it's the only part of your data that's visible to anyone besides you.
- Moderation. If you report a drawing, we record the report so it can be reviewed. If you block someone, their drawings stop appearing in your feed. Neither action is visible to the person you reported or blocked.
- Transactional email. Sign-up confirmation and password-reset emails are sent through our email provider (Brevo) — never marketing email, never anything you didn't directly trigger.
- Daily reminder. If enabled, a notification reminding you to draw is scheduled directly on your device using iOS's local notification system. This never touches our servers and we have no record of whether or when you received it.
5Storage & retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account (Profile → Delete account) and everything tied to it — email, username, drawings, likes, reports, blocks — is permanently removed from our database. This can't be undone, and there's no "soft delete" or recovery grace period once you confirm.
6Your rights
If you're in the EU, UK, or a place with similar data-protection law, you have the right to:
- Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — fix inaccurate data (most of this you can already do yourself in Profile).
- Delete — erase your account and data, in-app or by emailing us.
- Restrict or object — limit how we use your data in specific cases.
- Port — receive your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email chouillustration@gmail.com — we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled a request, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in France, that's the CNIL.
7Children
Sketchy isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under that age (or the higher minimum age set by your country's law). If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
8Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects how your data is used, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
